Has anyone used a worksaver post driver on the 3 point hitch ( model 20 )? I have a mx5100 kubota and is the driver going to be hard on the 3 point I dont want to damage any thing .

We use a Shaver HD10, not much different than the Worksaver. These things are pretty violent but I wouldn't imagine it damaging your tractor. I have had the linchpin work its way out of the lower 3pt arm but only after a few hundred post.

edit... I got to thinking about the weight of the driver vs. the tractor, Do you have a loader to counter balance the weight?

I use a shaver, they aren't supposed to rest on 3pt when you pound, you drop the weight on the feet attached to the pounder. If you try to support wt with 3pt while u pound you'll shake the tractor to pieces.

Yes I do have a loader and the guy that has the driver say that the stand was just to stand it up when you take it off. Never had a driver so any info. would be great . Thanks

I have used a few different makes and to operate correctly and more importantly safely it has to be firmly on the ground. If you try and use it on any but perfectly flat ground while supported on the 3PH you will probably find the tractor "walking" away from the post

So is a driver mounted on the front of tractor better ?

I doubt it. I may be wrong but it seems to me you'd be able to tell what your doing better with it on the back.

I've built many miles of fence, mostly on hills, and never had one walk away from me. And this is with a Shaver driver w/o any stand.

Same here, same brand.
The ground has to be the right dampness to drive the posts. Also I found adjacent to a tree line of mostly locust and cherry that I had to first use a post hole auger a little smaller than the post diameter to get through the roots. Without that the posts just bounced on the roots. They are still nice and tight after 20 years, even the predrilled ones.

Each time you position to pound a post you have to loosen lock nut on both stands so they drop down on ground, then retighten. Then you lower the 3pt until all weight has shifted to the stands. They will sink in soil so if its muddy you might need to lift and relevel. You can also put wood shims under stand feet to avoid loosening the locknuts. If you have a top n tilt this is one operation that can use it. Getting pounder plumb in both directions can take some fiddling. Why don't you Google the shaver site, you can downlod manual and watch sales video of how it worlds.
