I did the 100 hour maintenance today on the 7500. One thing that surprised me was the rear wheels were loose. The lugnuts were good and tight, but when I checked the bolts that go through the hub and axle, both were loose. I'm not sure what the proper terminology for the bolt is, but it's the one that you remove to set the wheels to different widths. Now I see why Kubota puts the pins through as a safety measure. I snugged them well and ran around the yard for a while, then retightened them. Driving around did seat them enough to let me tighten them a good bit more. Next time I use the tractor, I plan on checking them again.

Had a good workout bush hogging for a couple hours after servicing it. What a great day to be outdoors here in PA...............chim

Yes, it was a lovely day here in PA for a change. And the moisture from the past few days of much-needed rain made it much easier to practice with the new backhoe!

Seriously, you bring up a good point about checking fasteners whenever you're doing maintenance. There is a lot of vibration and other stresses on these machines as we all use them. It's natural for someting to come loose and unless you are looking for it, you may find out in a more unfortunate way...when something "important" comes loose.

On my B7100 the rear wheels come loose very regulary and break the bolt going through the axle. I've gotten to the point where I have installed another bolt inside of the one through the axle. This prevents the wheel from sliding in and hitting the fender. In fact I have one bolt to replace today.

And yes, I also think the tightness of all bolts other than those on the engine should be checked for tightness on a hour scheduled basis as well as a quick visual daily check.
