As I mentioned before I have a contract that states I need a power pack mounted on my excavator to meet the specs. I recently priced out 100 hp and 170 hp units from Versatrac and I am leaning toward buying the 100 HP unit from Denis Cimaf.

I've been cleaning up the ASV to sell and want to get 15K - 18K for it, the power pack is more than double that cost.

How hard would it be to take the motor and hydraulics out of the ASV and build a power pack? It has the cooling, starter, filters..etc...

I wonder what sort of gpm I could get using all the flow. I know I turned up the pump to 4200 psi and Dirty Works had his to 5000..

Can i do it?

Sounds like it might work but I bet Robbie could tell ya for sure.

Thanks guy's, no pressure. It absolutely will not work, now which Denis Cimaf powerpack would you like.;)
In theory and bench racing it should work. You do have everything you need. A few things that concern me or items that might cause problems.
1. Even using the ASV package you still have a open loop system, not the most efficient. So you might have a little more flow but probably less psi. Psi is what does the most work.
2. What you can get out of the ASV package. If you went with just the high flow specs of 38 gpm and 3800 psi. That is about what your running now. If you can get some more out of the "machine" pump it could add another 15 pgm or so. That would get you to around 50-55 gpm still at 3800 psi. Yes I believe you would see the advantage at the cutter but I doubt you will see what you expect.
3. The biggest challenge of all this is to get it to actually work. My greatest concern is getting the "machine" pump to stroke properly while series'd into the high flow pump. Then you have to get the engine to run properly and build the cooling package properly to get the cooling right. The cooling is alittle straight foward on the ASV.
4. If you run the numbers to build the cage, fab everything, double that number for first timimg it, you might have a working number. Then I would talk with a GOOD ASV mechanic who can assist. I wouldn't attemp it without a mechanic's support and blessing. Because if things don't work he is the one who will save the day or tell you how much money you wasted.:D
5. I hope this gives you alittle insight into the engineering that goes into our powerpacks and why they perform so well.
6. I have seen a few home built powerpacks and they do work. Not pretty but functional.
