Would you buy again?

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and an also in the market for a tractor and hope to buy in the next month or so. I'm looking for a machine in the 40-50 hp range and I'm headed to the dealer today to kick some tires I've been lurking here on the site for a few days and have read all the reviews of the brands I'm looking at. New Holland, Mahindra and Massey are my main focuses currently. So, the main question is this:

Would you buy New Holland again?

Derek, your question "begs" a yes or no answer by itself, but you'll probably not get that. In the time frame I bought my tractor (Feb 2001), I'd certainly buy another one. Right now, with the NH compacts from LS tractors, I'd just go down the street to the LS dealer if I wanted one of those tractors. The Shibaura models are being phased out as an OEM supplier for New Holland. All these things make me believe I'd shop around and probably not buy a NH tractor in the HP range you specified. Considering how close the dealers are to my house, I'd have to look closely at Massey-Ferguson, John Deere, Kubota, and Mahindra. There's a good chance I'd buy Mahindra because I have a relationship with that dealer (also sells NH) and to me the dealer is at least as important as the brand.

Since you are buying new I would take a serious look at the Massey-Ferguson.

I bought a new Ford 1910 in 1983, kept it maintained, own it today, never put a wrench on it other than changing oil and filters, if i had to buy another right now I would look around and find me a low hour Ford made by Shabuara, but thats just me.
