Some Real Good Friends Bought one from Spalding in Atl. Refurbished with a Brush Cutter. First of this yr. It's 3cyl with Gauges. More Hp. but not much more Torque than my 2Cyl. YM 2000. Don't have anything good to say about the Pto AT ALL or the Rear Axle seals. Steve did the Guys a deal that your could not pass up !!! I Was the only one that used it until I about did myself in. Personally I would stick with the 2000.

I think from what i had seen it was idiot lights and, i thought it was a 2cy. but i never paid that much attention.

Keep both if you can justify it to the wife. With your ability to find deals you probably dont have more in the both than some of us paid for one and way less than someone you bought an older JD or ford.

I don't think you was looking at a YM2500? Kind of hard to even think it was a 2cyl. just by the size of it and the Dash Panel. It Barely fit on my 18' trailer with the BH. attached. The more I think about it( FAIR Warning ) on the Rear End and PTO. Could be costly. That may be why they are only asking 2m for it.

Cary so i know, go into more detail about the rear end seals and PTO. I was thinking about getting one befor the 2000. And i know where a 2500 sits around here with a rinish mower that never mows but i know it runs and every so often its sitting in a different place i was thinking about one day making an offer if i feel i need more power.

The seals i think may be like some i have seen on here where you need to remove the whole axle tube and press the gears and pull the shaft to get to the seal on it, but that would just be a guess. I think the one im thinking about on here where the guy posted the process was for a 2200 and i think the 2500 is a similar year model, maybe the same technology on the seals?

Yeap!!! Thats right. And there are two PTO Shifter Levers with 5 Or 6 Gears. Really have to watch what Gear your in. Would'nt want to have to go into repairing that and don't know or want to find out the parts availability either.

So did the friends get rid of their 2500? Do they still have it, i remember you saying your buddy bought it and you are really the only one that uses it as you do his work and use it when you need. I thought i remeber you saying you loved it, or was that your not sure of wether you like it or not?

Thanks for the heads up Carey, this machine was owned by a diesel mechanic and his daughter is selling it and doesn't know anything about tractors, just wants it gone, so 2,000 to her is plenty for something she could care less about. I of course am going to stop by and look it over before I commit, she said that he purchased some time ago and remember him having to clean/fix the injectors and that he was pleased with its performance. I haven't asked but am assuming he has recently passed. So she just wants it gone, looking at Hoye's site it appears they have about any part for it available.

Minus your dislike of the rear pto and seals , how do you like the tractors power and size?

PS. I thought in older posts you saying you liked it a lot as well, that changed?

Smoody, why did you sell the 2210? Was it that it had a failed gasket and worried about future failure under heavy load, or that it was really to close in size to the 2001?

Clemsonfor, I sold the YM2210 because I didn't have time or the confidence to tear the head off and I liked the YM2001 better. The YM2210 had a bit more power and the powershift was ok, its just the YM2001 has proven itself to me and I feel confident it will last, I have put over 300 hours on it and only issue was a leaking 3 point arm that a $2 seal fixed. I sold the YM2210 to a local mechanic who was aware it needed a head gasket.

Let me elaborate on the powershift, it is nice for what it allows, however the shifter is to short in my opinion and I felt I was leaning over to much and it just wasn't comfortable using, i imagine the xx20 series with the powershift on the dash are much better.

Its not that I find deals easily, I just have learned how to negotiate well.

Smoody I liked it and worked good for what it was bought for. Just giving you a Heads Up on some potential problems to look for. If you do get it and sell one of them my bet it will be the 2500.
