well this is pretty cool to me, anyway. bought wooded land in february and am in the process of building. i've had a couple of farms with open land, so not used to woods. i wanted some pasture and after paying $2500 to have an acre cleared, decided to take my tractor out to the land this last weekend and give it a shot. i have a NH TN65 w/ 32LA FEL, a box blade as well. well shoot, i cleared 1/2 acre in about 5 hours, this is very thick woods mostly 3" trees with the occassional 6" thrown in for good measure. i found the sweet gums like to bend, the big pines i had to work back and forth a bit, but generally got great results and left the top soil. first pass did leave many spears sticking out of the ground, learned pretty quickly not to reverse over those as both my tractor and i were getting impaled. they did find the vulnerable parts of the underside of the tractor, had to tighten some hydraulic lines and zip tie some fuel lines, but generally, this was very successful. always thought you needed a dozer to clear, but not so. this beat $2500 to pieces. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
