WOW: R&R clutch on a 5603 cost $4300

My neighbors 5603/cab tractor stopped moving between unloading truck load of rd bales. After 2 dealer service calls that failed to remedy the problem tractor was hauled to dealer. Service manager stated clutch was bad to the tune of $4300. Tractor was bought new and had around 3700 hrs on tachometer.

What does a wet clutch set up generally need in a rebuild?

My only experience is the 40 or 50 series rowcrops. Clutch plates and renewing seals in the operating pistons. The way I understand the 5603 has a dry pad clutch

Which model? The 5603 built in Brazil is a 75 hp tractor with a dry clutch, the other is a 99 hp with cab and 12/12 direction reverser. According to Tractordata.

This one has a power reverser. I didn't know there were 2 different 5603's

I don't know either way myself but would think the PR has a wet clutch, might be wrong info on tractor data too. At any rate if the price to change a dry clutch is $4k plus I need to make more money for my work.

On my Kubota M7040 with hyd shuttle it has a dry damper clutch but the fwd/rev clutches are the reverser clutches. I was thinking the 5603 might be similar but I could be WRONG. Here's a parts schematic of what I find in the 5603 parts catalog.

At any rate if the price to change a dry clutch is $4k plus I need to make more money for my work.

You need to understand the $4300 includes 2 hauling trips @ 35 miles one-way($150 per trip),2 service calls & DIAGNOSTICS!!!

Could they be talking about the reverser needing to be rebuilt? It must have clutch packs.

There was one similar to my neighbors tractor with only 1100 hrs for $25000 on DFW CL. $4K to rebuild a hyd reverser sounds high to me BUT parts key #26 is this part.
