I have a BX2200 that I'd like to install a WR Long Flat Tooth Bar. The previous owner of the tractor had drilled several holes on each side of the bucket. The ones toward the front of the bucket are near the location of where the 3/4" holes are to be drilled for the tooth bar installation (but are not drilled in the same location on each side.) Can anyone give me the measured location to the center of the hole from the front edge inside of the bucket back and the height to the center of the hole inside the bucket as well link in section #4 of the installation guide on a BX24

WR Long Flat Tooth Bar install

I'd really like to install one and would like to figure out what issues if any I might have with the existing holes. Thanks!

I can tell you about the installation in the BX wiki photos, for it is mine.

Height of hole center : 2 and 7/8" (measured inside the bucket).

Horizontal distance of center from bucket edge is 5 and 7/8".

I've now added these measurements to the installation narrative. (That's the beauty of a wiki.)

You can see from photos 1,2,7 that the arms of the toothbar have a slotted hole and so you have considerable freedom (especially horizontally) in hole location. Indeed the holes do not need to be opposite each other - as long as the nuts are tight and the toothbar edge is engaged over the bucket edge it will be secure.

Note also in photo 7 that the bolts are at the front end of the arm slot. The disadvantage of having the bolt holes further back is that you might not be able to pull the toothbar forward enough to disengage it from the bucket edge flip it into the bucket. However that's a minor issue for me because

(a) Generally when I have a job where teeth are inappropriate, I also do not want an inverted toothbar obstructing material in the bucket.

(b) Although I can flip the bar somewhat, I still can't flip it 180 degrees because one of the teeth fouls the top of the bucket (photo 10). If I really wanted to fix this now I could either file down the tooth or front end of the arm slot by 1/8" to 1/4" but it doesn't trouble me enough to do so.

If I can help with any other questions let me know. I like this toothbar and have no regrets about its purchase.

A minor improvement would be to replace the nut/bolt with something that could be done/undone without tools but I haven't investigated that. If anyone has any suggestions that would be interesting. It has to be a compression type of fastener, not just a pin, because otherwise the slotted arm would allow the bar to fall forward when the bucket is pointing to the ground.

Hedgy - Thanks for the great information and for your original write up. Your write up is the reason I ended up liking the WR Long design. I was guessimating 5" back and 3" up based on your photos in the Wiki article. I know that I will have an issue with hole placement on the right side (facing bucket) but can adjust the hole back in the slot when installing. Looks to be about 1.25" of play in the slot for hole placement. I plan to order one today as based on your measurements.

Thanks again! - John

John - you might want to check with W R Long when you order that they have not changed their attachment "arm" design since April 2008 when I bought mine.
