I am looking for thoughts and opinions on the possibility of wrapping the DPF filter on my B3350 with automotive header wrap. My reasons are:

1. When the DPF regenerates it needs to get very hot, on colder days it takes forever to complete a regen cycle, sometimes it cannot do it. The header wrap will hold heat in the DPF canister and accelerate the heating process. (most worried with winter coming)
2. On hot days the heat coming off the engine and DPF is brutal for the operator. I end up sweating to death running my brushcutter for more than a few hours. The header wrap could keep the underhood temps down.
3. In general, headerwrap is not good for really wet areas as it accelerates rust, but I do not use my tractor in the rain or in very wet conditions so I think its not a problem.
4. The DPF canister appears to be stainless steel, so it should hold up very well to the wrap.
5. These B3350's could use all the help they can get to regen.
6. I would not wrap over the sensors or the senor lines, so it should not change their function.
7. Warranty impact?

What do you guys think?

I certainly would not do so without first getting approval from Kubota.

I can certainly see why you would want to. I don't have a DPF on my tractor but I do on the pickup.
It takes it a lot longer in the winter to complete a regen.
I could see a possible issue with warranty work depending on the dealer and the issue.
I also cover most of my radiator in the winter so the engine gets up to temp faster.

Wrapping the DPF is common, especially for under hood DPFs to keep the engine compartment temperature but also to heat the DPF. Look at TPXPowersource for heat wraps especially made for DPFs. A DPF heat shield does not restrict the exhaust gas in any way and helps by keeping the exhaust gas temp at the DPF up, electrical under the hood cool, and especially helps cool the roasting operator.

Kubota had a 'tractor bra' at one point that helped heat the entire engine compartment. You may consider one of those.

Thanks, this is what I was looking for.

I wouldn't. A sticking thermostat used to be a common problem in cars. Symptom was low or no heat. Is your temp gauge showing 3 bars (what mine runs at normally)?

After the regen problems I experienced during the 1st mowing season, I was convinced by many here to just run it full-throttle. Haven't had any problems since accepting this as the rule. I partially block the radiator with 4" tall cardboard when pushing snow at/below 20F. Overall, fuel consumption may have increased a bit, but it literally 'sips' fuel, so I don't really care.

where you are I really don't think you need it. if everything is working correctly it should regen fine. they are designed to warm up fast then thermostat opens if it is running cold or cooler take a close look at the engine thermostat.
