Today a friend called to see if I had time to go help him get a few things his Dad bought at an equipment auction on Saturday. While we were waiting for our turn to load we walked through some of the junk they had and came upon this little Deere 35D that was bent up pretty bad but other wise looked new. I started climbing around on it and discovered it only had 2.3 hours! As I was taking pictures a salesman came by and said it was new, never been in the dirt and never even had a bucket attached to the boom. We asked what had happened and he claims it had been driven off a loading dock. It must have been a big dock because it looks to me like it came off a truck going down the road. I thought the ROPS would have held up better than this...

Sorry for the bad pictures, the sun was blinding so I had to choose the angles carefully.

There goes $55k down the drain.

It looks like it may have gone off the dock backwards. Was it a accident? What are they going to do with it?

The damage looks consistent with going off the loading dock.

Reminds me of a couple of years ago, a new D-11 (IIRC) dozer coming out of the Cat factory going to the shipping yard a couple of miles away did not clear the underpass on I-70. Driver had failed to head the instructions to use the exit/on ramps to avoid the underpass.

No Roger it wasn't an accident, some good ole boy said "Hold my beer and check this sh*t out!", just before driving it backwards off the dock. Lmao. :)

The salesman said it didn't sell at the auction so I guess it will run again at next months auction, he made it sound like it was owned by the auction company itself.

I guess I was surprised how bent up it was for going over a dock. Really expected it to be more intact.
