X300 PTO Not Engaging

I started the engine. Backed out of the garage onto the lawn. Hit the 42" mower deck engage switch and got about 2 seconds of engagement before it cut out.

I assumed it blew a fuse so I opened the hood and checked the three switches in the fuse block. All of them were good.

I checked the schematic I got on-line and I see that it is pretty simple. Is it really probable that the source of my problem is in the interlock module?

If so, where is it mounted?

Where you still in reverse when you tried to engage the PTO? If so, the problem may be with the reverse lockout for the PTO.

May have to get out the volt meter and start tracking down some voltages.

Check your battery connections first. I had this happen to my jd stx once. Good luck

I had stopped and gone forward and I actually had the PTO engage for a second or two. I thought it was a blown fuse because I had that happen a couple of years ago. This time the fuse was not blown.

I would check the voltage to the clutch to see if you have power available to it. If not then start back tracking to see where you lost the voltage. The clutch and the pto switch are both likely culprits if you have a few years of use on them.

Everything is fine now. My checks of all the switches and interlocks showed nothing. Then somebody suggested actually going forward and engaging while in motion. It worked and now it works normally again. Go figure..
