X305 Deck cutting height adjuster knob

Does anybody know how to remove this item?, I guess it's the same part for most X series.

I've just had to replace the transmission drive belt which requires removal of the body on the X300R/305R to get the belt over the deck lifting system and during trying to get the knob off it snapped leaving the shaft still in. Manual just say's remove so I assumed it pulled off, guessing it was either stuck after 8 Years of use or I've missed a step!

It all still works and I've ordered a new one but good to know how it should be done!

The knobs normally pull off yes. You'll see a washer or two that goes around the stem of the knob. Maybe just get and hook behind and wiggle it off. BTW, you don't have to pull the body if you don't want to on a 300R.

Thanks Tom, I've seen the washers so will have another go. Not sure how you could do the belt change without at least lifting the body as it wouldn't be possible to remove the long bolt that runs through the deck lift lock mechanism

I've only had the pleasure to do this twice. Not quite as fun as on an LTR. There is some jostling to do, but the manual doesn't call for it on the 300 R anyways. The last one early last year. The knob kit comes with the washers I think. Welcome to the forum BTW!
