Tires are correctly inflated.
I parked on concrete and raised the deck all the way.
The cutting edge of the blade is 3" above the concrete.

I followed instructions to set the cutting height to 4" and then lowered the deck.
The cutting edge of the blade is 3" above the concrete.

I raised the deck and set the height knob to 3.5" and lowered the deck.
The cutting edge of the blade is 2.5" above the concrete.

Where did my missing inch go?
Is there something I can adjust to get a 4" cutting height? The owners manual is silent.
Are any of you other X370 owners able to get a 4" cutting height?

Do you have one of those little plastic deck leveling gauges? On my X300, it's stored in the adjuster knob. It helps you adjust the Guide Wheels for height and level.

Guys always claim an extra inch or so, I guess. In height! lol

At some point, you won't get as much lift in your deck going higher.

But when women check it, the height is much shorter.....

I have the guide wheels set as low as they go.
The mower cuts level.
It just does not cut at 4" even though a 4" setting is plainly marked on the large height adjusting dial.

Edit: Yes, I do have the deck leveling doodads. Good suggestion. Even though the deck is level I might be able to adjust both sides to raise the cutting height while maintaining a level cut. I will fiddle with that and report back.

You have may some adjustment in the deck hangers themselves. Take a look to see if you can lift that deck higher by using the deck hanger bolts.

That's kind of what I was going for with the Adjusting Gauge. If it isn't properly adjusted, including the hanger bolts, you won't get it aligned to the gauge.

At 3.5 , your deck should be 3.5". So what will happen is that the deck will only go so far before it hits the frame to bring it higher. You can turn the adjusters typically to get to that point, but you need to leave at least 1/4" clearance. Once that is up and level side to side, measure your pitch. Most lawns it is OK to pitch only a 1/4 front to rear to get the maximum HOC. If not, you will need to bring the front end back down. It is a good idea to check pitch before you start cranking on things so that you have a comparative figure should you disrupt the quality of cut.

Over-inflate your tires. That may help.

It all depends on how you measure!

Measured to the bottom of deck lip, or blade height?

Can the dial/gauge be adjusted or rotated to be recalibrated? You may not get the higher position (4"), but it may be more correct.
