Hi All,

New to this forum, since I'm finally ready to buy a high quality garden tractor. Have spent the last 10 years mowing and blowing with a Craftsman (with only 2 minor breakdowns), but now it is time for power steering, power lift and something that'll last me for 15 or 20 years. And maybe a smoother ride with a heavy tractor on rough prairie grass.

That leads me to the X530. Seems perfect for mowing 2-3 acres (rough and somewhat hilly), blowing a 300' gravel driveway and maybe a little bit of box scraper work. I live in ND where we might get anywhere from 30"-90" of snow.

I've heard lots of good things on the X530... but anybody have some negative experiences I might want to be aware of? (besides the price and RIO)

Price quote I have is:

X530: $5,800 (2011, still in crate)

47 Blower, chains, rear weights, grill cover: $2,000

Seems like the pricing is about what I'm seeing for low-time used one's on machinefinder, so I 'think' it is a good deal for a new one. (still makes my eyes water!)

Thanks for any feedback!

One of the things I like about the X530 is its deck. When you remove it, you can turn those wheels sideways and roll the deck right out from under the mower. I ALWAYS think of how easy it is to do maintenance. That is a great feature in my book. It sounds to me like you have a very nice deal going here. Does "...still in crate" mean you have to do your own setup too?

Hi Jim,

"Still in crate" just means the dealer is waiting for nicer weather before they do the setup and park a few models outside. So that's a plus since the tractor won't have been sitting out in the elements for a few months. Price does include setup of the tractor, mower and blower. Sounds like they'll also deliver or loan me a trailer as part of the deal.

Suggested retail for the whole package is $8,970. My cost would be $7,820. JD has a $300 sale right now and I'd be getting another $850 off retail. (which, I understand, nobody pays retail)

Knowing what the used prices are and not having read anything negative about the 530... I'm pretty sure I'll be poorer but smilin' by the weekend.

Thanks for the comments on the rotating casters. Don't have them on my 50" Craftsman deck but can see where that'd be nice. Maybe I'll even clean the deck more than once a year.

Now I need to start shopping for an after-market weather enclosure... at least by next winter.

Brad,

I did not see a front quick hitch or front PTO kit in your price quote. These will set you back another $900 if not inclued.

Todd you don't need that with a X530 it runs on a belt.

Brad, Which dealership gave you that quote? I also live in ND and would love a 530 at that price.
