When I start my X530, I usually keep my foot on the brake for about 10 seconds. Not often, but lately, when I take my foot off the brake pedal, the engine stops. It will always restart, but I have the same problem for a few times. If I start it and engage the parking brake, I can take my foot off the brake and it continues to run. If I disengage the parkimg brake, the engine will stop'

If I let the X530 sit for 10-15 minutes, it will start up and run fine.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. It is a 2012 model with 890 hours on it.

The seat safety switch may be at fault. There are several safety switches that work in tandem with each other. Normally the engine is killed if the brake is released with no operator in the seat. You can release the brake -or- get off the seat, but not both at the same time (conversely, you can let off the brake while seated, or get off the seat with the brake engaged).

If the engine dies as soon as the brake is released then it suggests to me that the seat switch is not detecting the presence of an operator in the seat. For a 7 year old tractor with almost 900 hours, it's not out of line for the seat switch to maybe need fixing or replacement. So check the wiring to the seat switch and the switch itself. For troubleshooting, you could bypass the seat switch and see if the problem goes away.

Thanks for your quick response. That makes sense. I will try to check that out. I will need to figure out how to bypass the seat switch. Have a Merry Christmas.

Be certain that the PTO switch is not engaged (on) as that will act in a similar manner.

To bypass the seat switch, pull the connector apart and put a U-shaped solid wire into the connector on the tractor side. It completes the circuit, and on my tractors it is a permanent fix.
