2003 John Deere x595
I recently purchased a 2003 x595 that came with the shaft-driven 62c deck. Since the deck is larger than what I need, I'd like to swap it for a similar-hour 54c deck.

I received a PM from a TBN member stating that he has a 2008 x720 with the 54c deck and is interested in a trade.

Will these two decks interchange without an issue? My reading so far tells me that this will work just fine.

Thank you in advance for any thoughts on this.

Yes these decks will swap out just fine, physical mounting dimensions have been the same for decks since the 425, 445 through the current x700 garden tractors. (x595 falls in the middle)

Thank you for the response. I passed the info on to the person who expressed interest in a trade but have not heard back...

I've never owned an x700 series but I have owned a 425, 445, 455, and several x495's. The mower decks on the 400 series and the X series will not "swap out just fine". The use a completely different lift arms to raise the deck.

I can't help the OP, but I did want to clear up this part.

I just sold the 62c deck for a fair amount and will purchase a new 54c deck this week.

That is also my experience with the 455 and my X485, that the decks will not interchange.

There is a different front to back length difference and depth of deck difference, as the X series gained height with larger tires, and some additional length. With my X485, I did not like the 54C deck because of the way it mowed, so borrowed a 54" deck from a 425 and tried to figure a way to mount it. Came to the conclusion just couldn't be done without some major cobbling on my part. So did the next best thing and bought two 54" decks with the 425 and 455 to go along with them both. Now have a machine for the MC519 cart and the diesel to mow the lawn with. Semi-retired the X485 (may sell it some day).

Now the decks under the X595 and X720 may be compatible with each. That I do not know.
