Tractor
JD 2025R, previously Gravely 5650 & JD 4010 & JD 1025R
I saw an X595 at the fair. It seems a better choice than the 2210, a HUGE tractor by comparison. Couldn't figure out the JD site to get info on it but found it by going to Google. It got me into the right JD site area. Offers an FEL and lots of other implements. No bush hog, but can buy a Woods or other "hog".

Any comments on the X595 from owners or those who have researched it? The X595 seems to be the smallest (and maybe only) diesel engine in this series.

Yes, the x-series are nice. The 2210 is a simple straightforward machine, no frills. The X-series has everything on it, a nice machine with a BIG price tag. I went with the 2210 for it's value, though I would have preferred the Cadillac X-595

A lot depends on what you are going to be using it for. The 595 is probably the nicest mowing machine in its class. That said it is also the most expensive. You will find a lot of posts on this comparison and many of us (myself included) who went with the 2210. It is simply more tractor for the $. More attachments, standard limited 3-pt. ROPS. Higher capacity loader. etc. But if you are not replacing the Gravely and simply want a sweet mower to add on, the X series is it. The 495 is also the diesel and is the 2wd version.
Right now John Deere has two websites, Deere.com which seems to be working right and johndeere.com which seems to not have all pages functioning. Try both.

Ralph, I could swear there was considerable discussion comparing these two on a post within the last 3-4 months. Have you tried searching the archives?

p.s., just gotta ask, did you go to the fair naked too?

No, didn't go to the fair naked. It's legal but would probably create a disturbance that there are laws against. Some folks actually think the body indecent, too. There are laws against that.

I did a search with "X595" and didn't get much.

Wonder if you can get the X595 without the mowing deck? The price quoted includes the deck, which often is around 2k$.

Found out on another forum that the X595 3 pt is only category 0. Guess that squashes it.

Not true. You can order it with a CAT 0, CAT 1 or ALPHA hitch. Go to JD's web page and check the specs. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

It does come without the mower deck, but as you are learning, it wont be good for much else. Maybe make a nice driver to the mailbox /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The X595 sure looks like a race car compared to the 2210 but if you get the 2210 you will be very HAPPY! The X595 only has a single speed transmission and that can't be good. I find the Hi and Low very useful on the 2210 and can not imagine being stuck in only one gear (I have many hills or when you are using the loader you really need to PUSH HARD) /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif.

The turning radius (not sure of the number off the top of my head but I have no problem going completely around very small bushes. In 2 wheel drive, it is unbelievable how tight it turns! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The only major options the X595 has that the 2210 does not are:
Cruse Control
Tilt wheel
6-way seat
12 volt outlet
Reverse lights

If Cruse Control is important, then this is a major decision but the 2210 has so many more possibilities without spending more money on the add-on cat 1 3 point. I find the stick on the 2210 better because it is right next to you (and there is only one that works very well). The X595 has two up on the dash to run the loader. The ROPS is standard on the 2210 and I am glad to have it (on the news just this morning, a man was killed when his riding mower rolled on him). I am all for safety! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I purchased my 2210 in May and could not live without it. Yesterday, when I was at the dealer I picked up a book on the X595 because I was having issues myself (the X595 just looks so much faster and well,... cooler! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif ) So I just wanted to remind myself why I need the 2210 more.

I am sure you will be very happy with either machine but the 2210 will be a better value $$$ in the long run for attachments. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
