x740 Deck Compatibility

Hi all,

My question is that I have an x740 with a 62 inch deck. I would like a new deck preferably a drive over one. Does anyone know if the drive over 60" HC deck (yellow) will work with the x740? Does anyone have any comparisons to the 62c deck compared to 60HC deck. I mow trails in pretty heavy tall grass and sometimes my current deck gets clogged up.

I do not think the 60HC comes as a drive over deck (I could be wrong) since it's taller than the 60D that is a drive over deck.

The HC decks replaced the 7Iron decks, same size, only 9ga instead of 7ga metal. A taller deck will work better for cutting taller weeds/grass.


I think the only reason it's not listed for the x740 is it came out after that when the x740 became the x750. I think it will fit.

i know the lift arms are different for the 2 different decks, and you can put "old" style arms on new X7 tractors,
and use "old" decks. (like your 62C) but i do not believe you can put the "new" style lift arms on the
older tractors, as they are much thicker at the tractor mounting point than the frame allows.

there is the option for the 60D green 7iron deck that is made for the X740, that is a drive over deck
and very rugged, i believe it is similar in design (shape) as the newer HC decks.

Those 62" decks can be configured a few different ways with different inserts and plates on the bottom side. Is the OP's deck set up to mulch or side chute? I installed the anti blow out kit on my deck because clippings were blowing out from the left front corner. It helped quite a bit.

I mow trails in pretty heavy tall grass and sometimes my current deck gets clogged up.

And any new deck designed for lawn mowing will also get clogged up. just sayin.... There is always a limit to what they will chew up...

I find when the deck becomes clogged, just stop and shut the deck off.. when powering up the slug will up-chuck and clear itself.

The decks for my 1983 cub cadet 982 are way better at cutting deep grass without clogging.

The 60D is what I would be wanting!!! I did not realise the 60D was the 7Iron deck in my first post when I said the 60HC was taller. They should same height and higher than the 62C

Have X740 with 60" 7 Iron. Great deck in my opinion but I have not cut trails or real tall grass.

That's what I'm wondering about the lift arms. Also I found the pto shaft is not compatible on the gear box side of the connection.
