I'm always needing to tote more items than I have room for in the standard toolbox-- plus it leaks.

Anyone able to mount a larger toolbox somehow on their JD?

Well I'm new to the forum. Have Been reading for some time but never had anything to contribute.

I own an X729 and use the front hitch receiver to mount a toolbox modified to fit into the receiver. I have a number of other modified options such a carrier that you would usually see attached to the rear of an automobile.

Sounds interesting. Any chance you could post a pic?

The toolbox is bolted to the threads extended beyond the nut on the underside of the ball. The 2" adapter helps get the box away from the brush guard enough to open the box. I'm looking for a longer class I or II insert to bolt the box directly to. Will probably just end up fabricating it.

Looks like a nice setup! Thanks for posting the pics.

Hostaman
Welcome to the forum.
Your front mounted tool box gave me a great idea for mounting my sprayer boom. Now I bolt it on to the weight bracket with two bolts (designed for the older 425 that didn't come with the receiver pocket). The X485 has the pocket so slipping on the sprayer boom (pull the nurse tank and pump on a trailer behind) will be easy and quick.

Thanks for posting. May even adapt your other carrier ideas as well. :)

On our x724 I made a rear reciever hitch, it bolts in between the rear frame rails above the factory hitch. Originally it was for mounting a 12v sprayer, works great with mesh basket for carrying other things.
