Does anyone know if the forward max torque is the same as the reverse max torque. I ask this question because I have been using my X748 with a tow hook on the front (using a tow strap and a brush grubber) to pull small shallow rooted invasive honey suckle shrubs. I use it in reverse so I can see what is going on and gauge if the gear is holding onto the stump. Also in reverse, the pulling puts down pressure on the front wheels as opposed to trying to pull a wheelie, thereby reducing the traction of the front drive train.
I did run into several stumps that exceeded the reverse pulling ability of the 4WD JD X748. The HST simply stops pulling, which means the HST is going into pressure relief. Before I remove the tow hook from the front and move it to the back I was just wondering if I would get more torque going forward? The tires are not slipping, I have 220 LBs of Rim Guard in the tires, as well as my own svelt 220lbs
in the seat. The HST simply stops pulling. I submitted a question to Tuff Tork, the HST manufacturer, with no response. The Deere spec page only lists the torque, not specifying forward or reverse.
Thanks to all.
