For the 647 rototiller to fit on the X748, does the PTO shaft need to cut down a couple of inches?

Which way does the mounting brackets need to be for the 2 arms? Forward,, up or up and flipped backwards?

Are front end weights mandatory?

I find the limited cat 1 hitch to be a little irritating to use and am considering buying the Harbor Freight quick hitch or another IMatch. That said you might wan't to consider this before cutting down the pto shaft.

The hitch arms are turned upwards on the mower hitch, don't know about the mounting assembly for the tiller.

You will need the front weights to counter balance the tiller.

Here is a picture of my hitch from the rear. I am fixing the rear sway chains this morning.

Whoa... those hitch arms have more bends and twists and upturns!!

I'd have to put a quick hitch on there to just be sure that I didn't have something out of adjustment and skew the whole shootin' match!

Good advice. Harbor Freight has one for $89.

Farm & Fleet has a cat 1 quick hitch for $159.

Looks like a roadtrip to Aurora (Illinois)

Oh, I meant the mounting brackets on the tiller, not the 3pt arms. They are made to position out up or up and backwards to move it closer or farther from the pto.

The quick hitch would move it farther back.

My fried has a 435 with 3pt. Between the two of us, the quick hitch would be used.

I didn't have to cut the shaft on mine , and I prepped it myself, right out of the crate. The slip clutch comes from the factory waaay too tight!!! Be sure to loosen it.

Oh ya, up on the arms, it's in the owners manual

captplaid,
Have you tried out the 647 with your new mower yet? Curious how that is working out.

It's been pretty darn wet lately. I broke up the sod for the new garden. It was a little too wet, but needed. The first time a bigger loaner trctor was used. The second time through was with the X748.

It ran smooth. Front end weights are needed. It's a little light on the front end and probably hard on the frame. There are some available. For now, my friend has them for his front end sweeper.

Sure be nice when the rain stops.

The Quick Hitch is a good idea. We'll surely find some other uses. There is an old section of a Rotary Hoe. We're thinking having this on 3pt would be nicer than just pulling it from the hitch.

Sure would be nice when the rain stops.

I need to put the mower on the tractor.
