X7xx or older X5xx series w/48" deck

I have an X595 and have been looking to trade in my 62" deck for a smaller 54". The 62" is a bit tight in some areas and gets hung up in others. Anyway I posted it on Craig's list and just got an offer to trade for a 48" instead. Does anyone out there have this size tractor with such a small deck? Just wondering if its too small for this size frame, getting into corners and such.

I dont have a X595, but I did have a 54" on my x540 and on my BX and I think that is as small as I'd go. Actually I wish I had larger on the BX to give me more clearance on the sides. A 48" would just cover the rear wheels and give no reach on the sides, I think it would be a nightmare if you had to mow right up to anything.

I have a 54" deck on a x720 and I wouldn't suggest that you go smaller. There is a reason that not many 48" decks are sold with the x7xx.

you will find the 48 barely covers the wheels, and that left side edge is right in line with the outside of those tires, so i find it hard to trim next
to anything close. (i have had a 48 in years past)
i think if you have some patience, you will find someone with a 54 willing to make the same trade. if i was in that situation i certainly would!

Thanks guys, since you all seem to be in agreement that the 48" is too small, I will take the advice and wait for a 54" to come along, or just keep my 62". Thanks again
