2015 LS XR4046 Open
Hello folks. I'm new here but not to things mechanical. I have a new XR4046 Open that dies when I climb back on after being off. It's a gear drive and of course the shuttle is in neutral and gear shift in neutral. I leave the range switch wherever and park brake on. I'm a large man and when I grab the fender handle to hoist my substantial self up if cuts off just like you turn the switch. Any ideas? It's got whopping 3 hours on it and I hate start bypassing safety switches.

There is safety switch in the seat if you get off while in gear the tractor will shut off. That could be bad and be your problem.

Welcome to TBN..................................

Just a possibility it may be the parking brake switch. The tractor does have a seat switch that will shut the tractor down if you get off the seat. If the parking brake is on you can get off the seat to get off the tractor.
Since you say you are a large man I suspect that when you grab the fender handle to get on you may be flexing the metal where the parking brake switch is located just enough to shut it down. The switch can be adjusted for a more positive connection.
If you hear a beeping sound as you are getting on and at the same time the tractor is shutting down, that is the parking brake beeper going off because it thinks the brake isn't set.

Mystery solved. There's a proximety switch on the shuttle lever. It mounts to a bracket with two 8mm screws and the bracket bolts to the what looks like the transmission housing with long 10mm head bolts. Loosening them all and bringing the switch closer the reluctor( metal tab screwed on the shuttle lever rod), has done the trick. Remove the lower plastic covers in 2 minutes and the job is done in two more! I could lightly push the sensor, which looks to be a Hall effect switch, and it'd stall every time. Don't know what the air gap is or suppose to be but its dang close and it works now. I tried bouncing around to get it to stall and it stays firm. HTH someone else.

Curious, what would that switch be for?

It cuts the tractor off if you weigh more than the average south Korean. Okay, not funny. It tells the onboard processor to kill the engine if no one is in the seat and shuttle is not in neutral. The tab is centered on the proximity switch in neutral. When the magnetic field changes I suppose it senses lever movement. Not that I'm a tractor engineer but I would have most likely built it with a ball switch in the transmission. It's overly complicated unless the reason lies in the ECU control with the auto PTO- just guessing.

Almost sounds like pto indicator switch. Had the similar problem, and had to adjust it.

I keep killing my 4046h by touching one of the pedals before my butt is firmly planted in the seat. It's getting to be a literal pain in the butt....

If the parking brake is set, should not make a difference? Only some beeps.

Hint: push on brake pedals when setting your parking brake.

I had the same problem with the prox switch on the the shuttle lever of my XR4040. With a quick adjustment, the annoyance was gone. Thanks for the info.
