LS XR4046HC
$1,000 to $1,500 difference in the two, just wonder how much 6 horsepower would make. I been researching these tractors and I like what I'm finding. Have 3 dealers within 60 miles of me. I had a Mahindra a few years ago but when I moved my neighbor wanted it more than i wanted to take it with me. Right now the closest Mahindra model is the 4035 and is priced closed to $6,000 more than the XR4040. Gonna be buying in the next few weeks so I got to make a decision.

I would buy the bigest one you can afford. You can never have enough HP.

Bigger isn't always better! If you don't need the extra ponies why buy a tractor that is going to use more fuel doing the same task! With that said I wish I would have gone bigger because I feel that with the Hydro is a little week in 2nd with my 4041h and I'm on flat ground! But I'm also a rookie with this stuff so take my opinion with a grain of salt!

If you're considering moving up a frame size, then yeah, big isn't always better. But, staying in the same frame, I would say it's almost always better to go with the additional HP if available, and if it's in your budget. I have made the mistake before. Better to have-and-not-need, than need-and-not-have. My 1648 is at the low HP end in this frame size. I would love to have the 1652, but there weren't any to be found, especially at this price. For me to get the extra 4 hp (actually a larger engine instead of just tuned) ... would have cost several thousand $$$. That most likely wouldn't have been worth it for me.

To the OP, if it's in within your budget, buy the extra 6 HP now. Financed, you're only talking an extra $20/month.

Well right now I am leaning towards a XR4046 with a cab. No snow where I live but we have heat and humidity. The reason being is the best quote I have is when it all boils down to it is only 3080.00 from the next price I have without the cab. In the XR4040 I can get a cab for only $2550.00 from my next best price wihtout a cab. Or I can go with out the cab on my best price and save $1700.00 over the next price on the XR4040 and $950.00 on the non cab XR4046. None of my dealers have cab tractors on the lot and just wonder how the AC is on these tractors? Probably would never run the heat where I am at.

gphil, I just purchased an XR4040C - have had it for exactly 14 days. I too was curious about the AC so I tried it out the other day while spraying. It does the job very nicely considering you're effectively sitting in a fish bowl. The weather here has been warm, today it was 85. If I can only find a radio that matches their factory installed connecter, life in the cockpit will be like heaven.

LS should have an adapter available, that would plug into the harness, and leave the wires open to connect to your aftermarket radio.... should

I put an aftermarket radio in my XR3037HC. All I had to do was figure out the factory plug. 1 pin always hot to retain memory, 1 pin hot with key on to power radio, 1 pin ground, 2 pins for left sprk plus and minus, 2 pins for right spkr plus and minus. plug in the antenna. I crimped spade connectors on the wires coming from the radio and plugged them into the corresponding place on the factory plug. Very easy to do. I went aftermarket radio because I was afraid to ask what the factory radio costs. My radio actually has 4 pairs of spkr wires for Left front and rear, right front and rear but I only used 2 pair. I can add 2 more spkrs later if I want.

Factory radio is a Sony, I bought one at Walmart with more features than the factory radio for $97.50, the factory radio was three times that price and the dealer plugged it right in for me for no charge for buying the tractor!!
