I've been looking at tractors for awhile and I'm pretty close on pulling the trigger. I'm pretty honed in on the LS XR4046 (while they are still available) with a loader. One of the jobs I'd like it to do is use the loader with bale spear to load a road bale onto a trailer or the bed of a truck. Anybody know if that tractor can do that? I know the lift height of the loader is low compared to other tractors and it makes me wonder.

Thanks in advance!

Yep, no problem. Make sure to load your rear tires for counterweight.

Lift height is not really an issue. I can pick up a bale over top of a hay ring, curl it forward, to drop round bale on its end.

Edit: BTW, I have an XR4046HC.

Wow, that was fast. Thanks! I'm looking at the XR4046H. With that question cleared I may just have to call the dealer back......

You should have no problem with 4x5 rounds, even my little ford 1920 can handle those. But when the rounds get bigger like 5x6 rounds the weight goes up fast. Good luck and enjoy. Las makes a nice tractor.

I have a new XR4140H and I just moved 16 6x5 fresh coastal round bales about 1/4 mile with no trouble at all . This tractor is more capable than it looks. I had the backhoe on the back but I suspect it would do even better with the three point hay spear on the back to balance it out even better.

I've loaded up many round bales for my FIL with my XR4155. My only notes are to make sure you have a good sized counterweight (or heavier implement on the 3 point), keep your ground speed reasonable, and carry the bale low while traveling.

While I can double stack them on the ground I can't double stack them on a trailer, it's a bit too tall...

I have an XR4040 and use my box blade as a counterweight. My experience with stacking is the same as Snowman87s
