Dealer dropped off my XUV 850D yesterday afternoon. I had an 05 HPX diesel. First impressions put a smile on my face. Looks are the same but it has so much more get up and go. It really jumps off the start and it really moves. The ride is smoother and engine is quieter and smoother then my 05. Didn't notice the diesel fumes as much as I did on the 05. There is a sway bar on the front. Not sure if that is new to the XUV or was added in 06. The clutch is not fully enclosed but seems better protected then my 05. The brake system feels much better along with the emergency brake. Tires are bigger and the ground clearance is much improved. I noticed the bolt under the GO pedal. My 05 had the hole for the bolt but no bolt. Might adjust that bolt on my XUV and see how much more I can get out of it. The power lift bed is going to be a nice feature. Need to put my deluxe cab back on and wait on some of the options I ordered.

I had some reservations about the diesel after reading comments about the improved FI gas engine. Those are gone now. I'm really glad I stayed with the diesel. All the changes are minor but over-all they make for a much improved Gator. It is just fun to drive.

I looked @ a XUV this past weekend and it looked to me like the bed height was greater that my '04 HPX. Is it different? I load a generator in the back of my HPX and it is just about @ my limit!

No sure but my quess is the bed height is higher since the XUV is stated to have higher ground clearance.

I noticed that the back bolt holes for the cab are not threaded on the XUV. Noticed that while it was being unloaded yesterday. We looked at my HPX and saw some threaded insert. Couldn't see how to get them out. Figured I would just use a nut and washer. Sent an email to my dealer. There are threaded blocks in there. They removed those blocks from my HPX and put them in the mail today.

Service is what makes the sale for me. This dealer has been great.

I drove a gas Trail XUV yesterday. I was very impressed with the ride compared to my diesel HPX. Drove the XUV over some very uneven, rutted trails around the dealership and never could get one wheel to lift off the ground. Never lost traction like my HPX would. My HPX is an '04 so it doesn't have the limited slip front differential like the new models and the best it will do is 3 wheel drive. The fuel injected gas engine had great throttle response but when I get one it will be another diesel.

Jesse,

I know for your farm diesel is the way to go, and I--of all people--love diesels. This time, though, I am going gas. Having driven both I found the gas one to have more pep and run a little better. I mean no offense to Craig, whose new purchase makes me envious, but I have now driven three gas XUV's and two diesels and the gas one seems to run better. The reality though is both these machines blow our previous ones out of the water with regard to performance and capability, regardless of engine. I am excited about the XUV I am to pick up this weekend. It has taken forever to get it, but my dealer is being very picky and custom fabricating some parts for it. This has taken time. I spoke with him today and he says the JD rep was really impressed when he saw it today--and it is not yet complete. The winch and skid plates are going on tomorrow. The lift and wheel kit are on already. I share the panel's concern about the axle shafts, etc. but my dealer said, "You break it, I will fix it. But you won't break it." Good enough for me.

You won't go wrong getting the gas. I was very impressed with the apparent strength of the rear suspension. The earlier pictures don't do justice to the beefiness of the suspension components. Also like the easier steering compared to my '04. It might be next year but I will be getting a XUV.
