Installed a few options this weekend on the 850 XUV. Put on the Deere winch kit, deluxe soft door kit, and deluxe light kit.
The Deere winch kit is the new Warn RT30. Went pretty well. Needed to remove the cup tray and lift the plastic cover over the shift knobs to route wires going to the battery. I had to remove the knobs off the shifter, rear diff lock and emergency brake to get that cover off. The winch solenoid mounts under dash next to glove box. Took extra care to zip tie the wires under the shifter area going into the battery area so they don't rub. The battery wires from the solenoid to the battery are just long enough so you need to route carefully. They show the remote control plug being mounted in the lower part of the glove box. I didn't mount the plug as yet as I wanted to think on that. I usually keep a number of things in my glove box so I wan't sure I wanted to mount it there. Maybe even right on the dash. To mount the winch you need the front receiver option. It is 2 inch on the XUV. Mounting the receiver looked simple enough except it wasn't easy to get your hand behind the bumper to put the nut and lock washer on. Small hands help. There appears to be an extra connection point in the wiring harness near the solenoid. On a ATV I think there is also a handle bar mounted switch that would attach to those wires. Might look into a dash mount switch since there are open switch slots in the XUV dash. That way you could control the winch while sitting in the XUV without using the remote. There is also an extra wiring kit that allows you to run an extra set of wires to the rear in case you want to mount winch in back receiver of XUV.
The soft door kit was pretty straight forward. There are filler panels that need to be install on both sides. The one on the passenger side required me to remove the air filter restrictor indicator. I also had to loosen the air filter box to be able to position the filler panel. I found out you need to work carefully around the battery area with nuts and bolts. Drop something in there and you need to pull the battery as my luck had everything findings its way under the battery tray. The filler panel on the drivers side gave me some fits. Just didn't seem to want to fit just right. I got it on but want to take another look at it. Very tight where it attaches to the back of the deluxe cab. I think I need to loosen the cab mounts in the rear and side the cab towards the drivers side just a bit. You need to put Velcro on the cab for the back window. In front of each door there is a small opening that gets a vinyl window. I have not put the velcro on as yet. Waiting for warmer days so it sticks well. Doors just lift off. Kit is pricy.
On the deluxe light kit. My turn signals work even with the key off. Is that normal? The instructions seem to say you need the key on to test them. I double checked how I plugged in the harness. I think I have that right. The hazards work without the key which I expected. Mounting the brake light switch by yourself is a real pain. Hard to get all the hardware in place hold it and get the nuts on all with very limited space. Longest part of the install. New headlight switch now has two positions. First one just turns on the tail lights. I was hoping the front turn signals would also have a parking light feature. On with the tail lights and head lights but not so.
Still have the Curtis heater on order.
