I'm wanting to get a front windshield for my XUV. For those that have the JD hard poly windshield, how is it holding up? Does it scratch easily? Is there some kind of treatment (like Rain-X) that can be used on it to keep it clear and deflect water? Is there a glass windshield available for the std OPS?

Got this one for $373 on Ebay back in the fall. It's been stored all winter so I have not been able to really check it out in action.

Took about an hour to install and it fit nice and snug. Am very happy with it so far.

Also snagged this brand new half windshield on ebay over winter for $29.00 :confused2: It will serve as a nice back up.

I do know they suggest using wax products to keep the windshield clean and it helps with any small scratches that might occur. Using glass cleaner products on it will cause fogging over time.

I'm a cheapo I built my own, bought the material from lowes for $40.00. Seems to be doing fine. Figured if it does get scratched whoopy, I won't be have to get a loan to replace it.

That JD windshield looks nice! Would be interested in how it holds up with some use/time spent outdoors with it.

20 20: Can you post pics of yours? Is it a full windshield? Can you tell me how you went about making it and what size sheet of material you used?

JDX, I'll try and get pictures. I bought the plexiglass from lowes{believe it was 2X4} it was allmost a perfect fit{this is for a yamaha rhino}. I didn't need to cut but could have if I wanted it purty. I also bought aluminium channels that the 3/8" glass fit into perfectly{top and bottom for strength}. I glued the aluminium on with plumbers goop, stuff holds great. Then all I did was melt holes through the glass on each side and ziptied it on. It doesn't move at all not even going full bore down a bumpy dirt road. It made a big difference on wind especially when it's 20 outside. Like I said it isn't perfect but it also isn't a bank breaker either. I could have taken more time and purtied everything up but I wanted to make sure it worked 1st. All in all it doesn't look bad, I'll try and get a picture.

I have the JD half windshield and its great. I use plexus on it to help keep it from scratching easily.

What is plexus?

I also prefer the 1/2 WS as in the winter here one is plowing blind with the full one. I just bought a halfie for my new Ranger. Looks like it was made by the same supplier to JD.

I have one, its on my list as one of the worst things I have ever bought.

I thought it would be great to keep me a bit dryer, and be able to get around when its raining, etc....nope. It has no wipers at all, and even when smothered with rainx, you cant see with even the slightest drizzle.

First day of the year, its even a bit cool, it will fog up and you cant see out of it...if you touch it with even a soft shop towel it scratches....worst $300 I ever spent.

Mine now sits in my barn taking up space. Save your money.
