OK, strange title, but all will be revealed.
Was at Local JD dealer yesterday evening to collect a JD cart for my little fella for Xmas.
They told me a pallet of stuff had come in for your gator.
They loaned me their flat bed trailer to take the stuff home.
Overjoyed at this,
when home, I started taking the stuff off.
The glass kit contains 2 doors, rear opening window, various panels for sealing off cab, all in a very heavy wooden crate, very well packed.
I said to myself, best place to store the doors is hang them on the XUV.
So I removed the softie doors that came with the Gator,
and carefully carried the first glass one into the shed for fitment ensuring nothing was there to trip on in the process bearing in mind it was dark.
These doors are BIG, and heavy.
I greased the pins and very carefully mounted them on the cab.
Stood back to admire my work,
and holy cr*p(the heart failure bit),
these things are bigger than the opening of the cab.
All sorts went through my head, maybe the cab is different from the States.
Anyway, composed myself a little and the mist started to clear.
The design of these doors are new.
There are no longer any quarter lights on the front of the cab with these doors.
The door now covers the entire side of the cab.
The quarter light components of the cab simply unbolts and a new bottom closing rail bolts in it's place, for the door lock to engage on.
Haven't done this yet, just hung the 2nd door and rapidly made a coffee for a caffeine fix.
Heart failure averted.
No doubt there will be more tales like this before I'm finished.
One consolation when buying a product from a large manufacturer, parts are readily available and you can be assured that lots of R&D has gone into design of their parts.
This in itself was one of the main reasons I went JD.
End of rant.
