Any members out there who own a Yamaha Rhino? What is your experience with it and how is it holding up? Thanks!

Guess there are no Rhino owners out there! For all you side by side and atv owners I found a site for cabs that are reasonably priced. If you have been wanting a winter cab for your atv, these might be worth checking out. BTW the bottom two are Rhinos.

Hey Dozernut.. i own a Rhino.. I traded in my Kawasaki Prairie 4 wheeler for it.. I had and have been reading reviews on this machine for several months before i ended up buying mine a couple of days before thanksgiving.
I was concerned that it wouldn't do what all the write-ups would say it would, and go where ATV's could go.
Since purchasing this beast of an offroad machine.. I can say without a doubt it will go will 4wheelers will go, and even places they wont. The engine sits between the two seats, which is centered between all 4 wheels giving it a center of gravity that is unbelievable. On normal off cambered hills, an ATV would feel like its going to topple without leaning into the hill. Same for turning sharply.. you have to lean.. The Rhino does all this and NEVER feels top heavy. As for climbing, this thing is a beast.. i have yet to find a hill that it doesn't climb effortlessly.. Every hill climbed so far the Rhino has said,"is that all you can find?".. Today, i was riding and a few hills are dang near verticle.. if it weren't for the first few feet being at a slight angle, the whole hill would be verticle. There were all types of vehicles out there.. jeeps, trucks, ATV's, motorcycles and only one Rhino.. The Rhino was the only one that would climb it.. Now mind you, its limitations are only what the rider is inclined to do.. I'm sure some other vehicles could have made it, they just chose not to.. it is a pretty intimidating hill side.. 2 jeeps tried, and they couldn't make it..
The Rhino is everything i've read about and more.. I would buy another one if i needed too. I am totally thrilled with mine, and would recommend this machine to anyone in the market for this type of vehicle.

Thanks for the response, I had about given up on a reply. Nice looking machine, it looks and sounds real capable of some serious off roading. Looks like you have it setup nicely for hunting. The dealer is supposed to have a Rhino coming in this week. Maybe I will get to look at one in person.
BTW that sure is a nice buck! We had too much standing corn this year and didn't do as well as we would have liked. It got pretty chilly in the stand with the wind and snow. The temp dipped into the teens and with the wind at 15 - 20 mph, the wind chill was pretty low.
Oh and welcome to TBN!

Your Rhino looks like a real joy to ride and a real workhorse for hauling you and "stuff" into rough country. I really like you deer feeder attachment. Did you already have that made with a trailer hitch receiver when you bought the Rhino? I'm not a hunter, so I haven't seen that style feeder before. However, I do like to feed the deer and yesterday morning I had nine does come walking up to my feeder in a big group. With that many does, I expected to see a buck, but I never saw him.

My neighbor just bought one and traded in his 2 wheel drive Kawasaki Mule. It's pretty cool and has a nice sounding exhaust note. It also features a locking front diff. and high/low trans. I like it. I think I would rather have a 6x4 JD Gator Diesel though.

Just curious - Why would you choose the Gator over the Rhino - diesel? I like the Gator too, but think of it as more of a work horse.

I haven't had a chance to try out the Rhino yet but I do have a grizzly 660 - and I love it. I'm sure the Rhino is a brute, but would like to see how it could do on the 'fun' side.

Jumps? Power slides? Speed? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Anyone?

I know, I know, I'll never grow up, cause I refuse too. However, my back tells me often I need to. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The diesel motor is a good Yanmar but we have had such good luck with our Gator and it is built like a tank. I can go through 8 in of snow fine with the 4x2 and the 6x4 has to be even better. Also the plastic box on the Rhino would not even compare to the Gator for utilily but the two vehicles are made for different purposes. I have no need for a fun vehicle just work. Remember slow and steady wins the race!

For all who are interested in what the Rhino will do here is a website specifically for the machine.

The Rhino will do power slides, climb hills better than anything i've seen, will not topple, (at least i haven't had it in a situation yet where it felt like it would), you can jump it, and with a grizzly CDI in it, will do 62 mph.
I use mine for working, playing and mostly hunting (which is work too).. There are no other sidexside machines that will go around the ranch in Sonora. The others ground clearance just isn't there. Sonora has too many rocks to climb over. Last year, one of my hunters bought a polaris ranger. He claimed it would go where the 4 wheelers would go.. First hill we went up he high centered and couldn't get over it. The Gator would be the same way, as well as the Mule. Put larger tires and raise them, then you have severe power loss.
The Rhino does everything that i ask of it so far.. the bed is plastic on on the left and right sides and back.. the bottom and right behind the seats is metal. It will also hold more than what they say is the recommended hauling weight.

I've had my Rhino for two week and love it.Although the snow and ice rain in my area (seattle) I could of used a roof.I got by with used a chunk of canvas and bunge cords. My wife was also happy .With the suspension it has over our retired max we travel at greater speeds. She returned from her first ride with snow caked on her clothes and frozen. We are in our fifties and travel around our farm together. It will haul more than the 400 rated bed limit.I had it full of green wood and climbed some steep hills with lots of extra power. I would like to say that it came with milky colored oil in it.It was changed and never turned color again. Was anyones like this? I put an hour meter under the hood to track when the servicing is due.
