Mowing Yanmar 1300D and 5-foot Finish Mower?

Hi,

I'm in the process of buying a house on 5-acres, which I'll need to mow, plus maintaining a 1/4 mile gravel driveway. I'm looking at a Yanmar 1300D. I like the looks of it, but I'm afraid it might be a little bit "light" for my needs.

I think I'd want to pull at least a 5-foot finish mower, and I suspect that may be to large for the 1300D.

What kind of experiences have others had?

My personal opinion (we all know what they're worth) is go with nothing less than a 16-17 HP tractor with a 5' mower.
I used a YM1700 (2WD) with a 5' Caroni. It did get light in the front if I raised it and hit an incline.

I have to ditto what Jerry said. Go 4ft with the 1300 or jump up a couple sizes if you want to use a 5 footer. I don't even recommend a 5ft behind a YM1500.

My neighbor has a 155D Yanmar and uses a 5' Caroni mower. He had to add some weight to the front but cuts grass every week with no problems. The 155D is simular to the 1300D in weight and HP. Watching him use his is why I bought a Yanmar. He also uses a 4' rotary cutter, 5' back blade and a 12" auger.

Thanks, all for the help. Some how is just feels a little light for a 5-foot mower, and I'm afraid 4-feet would just leave me doing nothing but mowing... I think I'll hunt for something a little beefier.
