Buying Advice Yanmar 1600 or Yanmar 1510

I'm looking for a small tractor to keep up my property and looking at two tractors locally:

1 = Yanmar 1600 w/196 hours
2 = Yanmar 1510 w/220 hours

Just wondering if anyone could give some insight on the two models.

Both are good tractors. The powershift on the 1510 is a very nice feature and the 1510's 3 cylinder engine runs much smoother. The 1600 is extremely simple and easy to service. Keep in mind that both models likely have 1,000 or more hours than the meter shows. Are you planning on adding a loader or anything? Are both models 2wd?

1510 should have a higher price, it's more refined. It's also a more recent model. Its main advantage is the Powershift. It can be shifted down under full load as you start up a grade, and shifted up as you turn out of the barn and get moving. Also it was available with 4wd, a huge advantage (on a lightweight tractor) if this one has that.

1600 in contrast you make a full stop to shift every time circumstances change. Both are narrow, the 1600 is taller and will feel spookier on a side slope. Put a ROPS on whatever you buy!

If you don't want to spend a lot the 1600 is a good choice.
