First it's a US model Yanmar, so Yanmar-USA in Chicago supports it. I think it is also the same as the gray market YM1510 so the several dealers supporting the imports will also support it. It's definitely not an orphan.

Quality - excellent. Yanmar was building Deere's smaller tractors at the time of the YM186.

Price - Check Craigslist nationwide. Google on:

yanmar tractor site:craigslist.org

to see a nationwide list. You might want to search on just 'YM186'. Or go into Google Advanced, hit the (+) for more Advanced features, then use Google's 'past week' option and limit the $ to a reasonable max/min, to trim down the results. You could also search on YM186D (the 4x4 version). Those will have higher prices than the 2wd YM186.

Piece of junk. Tell me where it is so that I can buy it and get it off the market to spare an unsuspecting buyer much misery. Seriously, I have one and came to know what others said about them is true. Parts are readily available. In the Northeast a good one w/loader , good tires etc. ; $4000 to $5000. Should also say the 186 D is what I have, and had researched. 2WD will be worth less.

i'm assuming the 186 and 186d are the same

my neighbor has had a 186d for about 8 years and it has honestly been bullet proof!

I had a 186D for a couple years. It far exceeded my expectations. I never needed any parts for it, since nothing ever broke........ but as far as i could see there was no problem getting support for them. I sold mine with a FEL for around $5500, as i wanted a relatively quick sale.

I have a 1510d and think that it is wonderful. I had to put some new bearings, seals and king pins in the front drive, the bearings and seals I got at a local bearing house and I had the pins made, although they were available in the States it was less expensive for me to make them. I absolutely love the tranny on these machines.

It is not really relevant, but I paid 3000 Euro which at the time was about $4500, 1.5 years ago.
