California.......there is a dealer up here in Southwest Washington selling grey market Yanmars. Went out little over a year ago......he had at least 100 tractors. He also builds FELs and 3 point backhoes. He's north of Hoquiam Wa.......if interested.....I can find contact information. By the way.....I got my 186D last year near Salem, Oregon.

That sounds like Coldwater Tractors.

Yep, Jerrybob is talking about coldwater. I found my 186D on craigs list Portland, about 100 mile drive. On Seattle craigslist, there are a few Yanmars right now, but almost all are gray market.

There must have been a lot of the US Yanmars sold around Portland back in the day.

I didn't ask where my Susanville Yanmar came from but that's far northeast California, closer to Oregon than to any major cities here. California has a lot of big agrabusiness, but not much of the horsey type people who were likely the original owners for these little stable-sized Yanmars.

Jerry, thanks for the heads-up on Coldwater. I've been through Hoquiam but it's two days from here. (N of San Francisco). Google says 770 miles, 14 hours, and towing would be even slower. I don't realistically think I'll ever buy that far away when I don't own an equipment trailer, or a tow vehicle for it.

This was right at the limit! I had the seller bring it the first hundred miles down the mountain to a friend halfway home, then I did the 200 miles of flatland towing the rest of the way.

I have a 8000 gross trailer, and a F150 to tow mine around, but it takes fuel, and the F150 has dual tanks because it need's it.

California......I understand. Coldwater is a fun place to visit if you're ever in the area. Like Pete.....I have a car trailer and truck......bought the trailer 7 years ago to move a 53 chevy from Southern Calif. to Washington. Looked into renting a trailer.....they wanted something like $600.....bought a brand new trailer up here directly from a company that builds them for $1500. Definitely worth the investment. Have used that trailer hundreds of times for just about everything.....including picking up my 186D last year.
