Tractor
Yanmar 187D Terramite T5C Bush Hog D4-10
Just bought my first tractor! Heading up north to get it at the end of the week.

Tractor is outside of pittsburg, pa......

I am driving my expedition 4x4 to pick it up.....going to have to find a larger trailer than mine.....with the fel it will be too large.....

figuring at least a 10ft with front end top of front rail......so I am looking locally to see if I can find a larger trailer....

other option is to pay someone to bring it down....any suggestions if I go that route???

Tractor has less than 750 hours on it and I think was a one owner......all manuals etc.....was traded in with a dealer......

thanks for all the good info so far! Can't wait to get this baby home!!

On the Trailer you may be able to go U-Haul but don't hold me to that.Go to Hoyes web site and you can get the info on the model your getting under research SPECS. at lest you can get the biggest issue of Weight and call the seller for the Length. Just looked I'm not sure of the YM model # but not going there again. someone will tell you I'm sure if you don't know.

Thanks Cary....I did ask since it is not listed in any of the grey market specs....

52" wide 12'ft including fel and rear 3pt hitch arms

I am guessing it is about the same as the 1500 which is larger and heavier than the 1510

thinking 1600 lbs plus fel...sound right???

At least you have a good idea now. The load will be over 1 ton. I like to have a little more trailer than just or not enough.I would hate to find out the hard way. Better be safe than sorry. Don't ask how I know that to be true:rolleyes:

A 10 ft trailer should work as the minimum. Back it in. Chain the overhanging bucket to the trailer separately so you don't get an 'unsecured load' ticket. (as well as chaining down the tractor).

This picture is my YM186D on my 4x8 ft trailer. I had removed the 3-point arms to back all the way in. But I discovered I didn't need to, backing all the way into the trailer loaded more weight on the hitch than I needed.

This looks like too much load but both the trailer and the Subaru are within rated towing capacity. It towed fine for 100 miles on a 110 degree day.

Tip: to measure the weight on the hitch, on a small tow rig like pictured -
Measure the distance from the hitch to the ground with no weight on the hitch. Then have somebody heavy stand on the hitch and measure it again. After you load the trailer, adjust the load to get the same deflection plus/minus a small judgment allowance.

Also - Uhaul's carhauler trailer is probably too wide for your tractor. I used one to bring home my YM240 (YM2000) and the 36" of open space between the two rails left the front tires nearly falling through. I couldn't use UHaul's ramps to load, they were way too wide. And a YM186D is much narrower than a YM240. (Plus UHaul won't allow tractors on their carhaulers. I had to go to a second outlet and lie that my YM240 was a little lawnmower tractor).

Thanks Aaron and California! I am sure I will be ordering parts and asking alot more questions in the near future. Luckily the owner had and is providing all the manuals....so that is a good start!

Now if I can just get the logistics taken care of...

I also have my annual chukar/quail hunt that I go to each year and it is on Saturday ...so I have got to figure out how to pickup the tractor and be back in time for the hunt on saturday.

Hey, I just got a 187 D too! Man, what a nice machine! Congratulations!
Mine has a brush cutter and a FEL and totals about 16 feet. Luckily I have a friend with a 16-ft. trailer who hauled it home for me without incident...hope you get yours home just as easily. The FEL is more useful than I ever imagined!

You will love this tractor. I am amazed what it can do. I have spent the summer shredding, moving dirt etc.

Good luck with your purchase.
