Yanmar 2310D hard to start white smoke.

Ihave a Yanmar 2310D when trying to start white smoke .If it start and runs it will clear up. Hard to START.What is wrong?

Do you pre-heat with the glow plugs before starting? Sounds like the glow plugs are bad if you are actually using them.

G'day Mate and welcome to TBN from Downunder.

Possible water in the fuel line... do you check the fuel bowl (red floating disk) prior to your 'start up' routine? Drain any water in the bowl, via the 'cock' at the bottom of the bowl. There may also be water trapped in your fuel filter.

Glow plugs.. Get a elcheapo volt meter & check to see if your getting voltage TO the gp..
IF U ARE, GOOD.. but that doesn't mean the GP is any good..
I LIKE to take them out & test them.. others rely on an ohm meter..
With some alligator clips, the spade is +.. & the body is -.. They need to get red/white hot in 10 sec or less..
U can use the machines battery or a battery charger to test'm..

Some times a bad glow plug will light a test light. Make a test light out of an old head light. The head light takes more amps to light, so if the glow plug is bad the higher amperage that is required will open the circuit.
