Before hand, thanks for any help and replies. I live in Alaska, and am looking at a 2310d, with front loader(5ft) and perhaps backhoe as an option. it will be used for general land clearing (stumps, leveling, snow removal,tilling,etc) 2+ acres. Is this enough machine? I am not in a hurry, Just dont want to buy something that wouldnt do the job. Also stuff is $$$$ up here compared to the lower 48, Does $8200, with 850?(probably more?) hours on it sound reasonable? $12000 with backhoe installed? Anything in particular to watch for? The machine "looks" to be in great shape. Thanks again for any help.

What name is on the loader? If Bulldog or V I would be a bit suspect, if Koyker then that is a good sign. Dealer or individual ?
It is from an individual, at least I think. He did just sell a 2610, but from what he tells me. he doesnt have tractors covered with tarps or hiding behind bushes in his yard.If it was a bulldog or V loader, what is wrong with them? just Junk? I will be driving there this coming week to look at it again, As it is about 350 miles away. appreiciate the help. Totally new to this, and Im sure i will have alot more questions.

While some have had luck with these others wake up screaming in the night. Before you journey that distance make a call and find out what kind of loader is on it. There are quite a few dealers here, maybe they could point you to someone if this turns out to be a VN recon.

Smart Grandpa. Not being in a real hurry is a huge advantage. Before I bought I started on page 1 of this forum and would look at the titles and if it looked interesting I would take a look at it. Took a few hours and while I did not make it to the last page I learned a great deal. Learned what to look for and at. Massive amounts of knowledge here and lots of good people. I have essentially the same machine, 2301d and am using it to clear 8 acres of previously raped and ravaged (logged) land. If you're looking at one with the Japanese rice field tires with the mega lugs, plan on running in 4wd a lot as the traction is not great in 2wd. Mine has a Mahindra loader on it and it works great. These machines will do a lot of work and I have yet to break anything. One thing to look at is oil leaks at the steering knuckles as these things were submerged in the rice fields and got a lot of water exposure to front end components. If the seals are leaking, it is likely that the spindles and needle bearings are worn out from the water issue.
