So i mentioned to a friend of mine that it would be nice to have a cab for my Yanmar 336D that i can put on for the winter months and remove for summer months. He said he had one off his old Massey Ferguson 202 backhoe/loader and offered it to me for free. Its not in the best shape but doesn't have any rust holes or rot. I posted 3 photos of it below. My plan is to clean it up and repaint it. I will replace the glass and remove the spotlight on top. I might fix the windshield wiper as well while im at it. I would like to install amber strobe lights on it and maybe some halogen work lights. All the electronics and switch panels will be installed inside the cab so you can just plug in a power connector when the cab is put on. The cab does not have sides or a back so i will have to come up with something. There are little snap on clip things every few inches around the whole cab so im guessing at one point it had some type of fabric kind of doors and backing. What do you guys think? Also any ideas for heat?

Thanks!

Well nice to meet you Thepowerking! Yeah im fairly young and in good health at the moment, the only thing that holds me back on my projects is really time at this point. Like many of us i have to many projects and to little time haha. I bet that crawler sure looks good, i absolutely love crawlers but unfortunately have not yet owned one.

Hey Guys dont want to hijack your thread but wanted to say I have considered a retrofit of a used cab to my NH TZ22 for winter but encouter same problems of you guys combined, time, age and also pennies.. to little of time and pennies and bear paws and eagle eyes arent what they used to be. This forum is great so many good folks and projects. All the best.

Looks like a good find to me. I use a removable winter cab also. Just put it on yesterday for this season's winter chores and it will be removed in the spring. I tell people my tractor is a convertible. :laughing:

Good luck on your project and keep us posted!

Bulldogmack, I too was lucky enough a few years ago to have a friend sell me the remnants of an old softsided tractor cab for $20. The usable pieces were really just the front, top and 2 angle rear supports. I had to clean up the surface rust, repaint the parts and buy a new tempered window and seal. I did have to make some minor modifications to get it to fit on my Kubota. I then fitted it for and made new soft sides and back with vinyl windows. Installed a lot of snaps for the soft pieces. And I had to make a "bump out" support for the right side due to the location of my loader and power angle control valves. The solid parts stay on the tractor all year; I only have the soft sides on for winter plowing. Here's a couple of pics that may give you some ideas.

Hey Mack;
You have great beginnings .... and free is also a good thing. Plan your mounts and mods before prepping for paint. I usually get going on the pretty side and end up cutting some of it away because of another plan. I have survived a lot of winters without but I see a cab in my future. Just waiting for that surprise package to be available for a start !
