Really? Check NAPA's website, my local store shows Rotella 10W-40 CF in stock. NAPA part number SHE 550019858.

Shell Rotella 550019858 comes up as SAE 40 oil, most likely for the old Detroit Diesel 2-stroke engines.I had six of them 30 years ago. They spec'd 30 winter and 40 summer.Ah,the good old days! There may be a 10W40 diesel oil,but I've never seen it and I'm a dinosaur.Detroit Diesels were popular in marine applications as well, since you're in Maine,it's most likely for the fisherman.

I'm assuming this is Amsoil's equivalent.

this oil stuff can certainly drive one crazy!! I guess at this point i'm just wondering if the T5 synthetic blend will harm this tractor somehow. I haven't run it yet, as I just changed the oil. Should I leave it in or drain it and put the regular rotella T 10w-30 in it? thanks

alltherage-it's easy to overthink this oil stuff. Many owners switch to synthetic at the 50 hour service with no ill effects. You would have been fine with the T6.5W40 synthetic. No need to drain your oil.Just use it and switch to whatever you want at the next service.Japanese tractor builders are notorious for out of date oil specs-Kubota is confusing as well.I'm not a synthetic guy so I posted Rotella 10W30 as a product available to give you an option.Lower viscosity oils are in vogue these days-look at most cars running 5W20 or 5W30 oils, even 0W20 for hybrids.Good Luck!

thanks everyone....i know it's easy to micromanage this stuff. anyway, i was bored last night and drove to advance auto and grabbed some rotella T 10w30 and a new purolator. I drained the T5 and re-bottled it for use in the lawnmower. I hadn't used it yet so it didn't go to waste. thanks for the help...i guess i like peace of mind.
