Looking for opinions...I have a chineese trac Ag-King (Jinma 20 hp 2 cyl )that has been a nitemare.. The dealer I got it from has a Yanmar F22A w/780 hours on it. Has more HP than my tractor and right now runs far better than my tractor, but the number of hours on it kind of scares me.. I can't find anything on the F22A. How durable are these tractors and what is the average time to overhaul.. The Chineese tractor has really scared me about the foreign tractor market..

Yanmar in general seems very durable, and 780 hours is no where near worn out, as long as it's been serviced. I've had mine for 3 years with only very minor routine maint needed.
I'm sure some of the "veterans" around here will advise you to check it out carefully, but if the dealer is a trustworhty place to do business, and the tractor is in good shape, you'll be fine with the Yanmar................

The hours on the machine are low for most tractors. I don't know about the F22 but I just bought a YM 2310D with under 600 hours. The 2310 is 25 years old. The hours work out to a yearly average of 25 hours a year. (hardly used) I researched all the options on tractors ( Chineese, Grey market, US Models) and went with Yanmar. Read down the Posts you will find most people are happy with their Yanmar machines. They built John Deere for many years. Good Luck

Thanks for the replies. No the side cowling says F22A. It's a two wheel drive tractor. The 3pt lift has an electric contol on the right fender that allows me to tilt the 3 pt from side to side and some other functions that I haven't figured out.. There are two additional switches just behind the tilt switch that the dealer said had to do with a smart operation for a tiller which he is not sure about..

The Fxx series Yanmars are gray market with no US equivalent, so you may run into a parts problem down the road. I understand there are going to be aftermarket parts available in the future, but for now I read about several guys who have had to resort to cannabalizing used parts from parts tractors.

My FX28D has several thousand hours (2400). Runs well. Most diesel engines last two to three times as long as the comparable gasoline engine. Maintenance is important. 500 hours and no maintenance may be the equivalent of 1500 hours with good. Certainly running without oil or without coolant to the point of breaking the unit will add wear and tear even if the immediate damage is repaired.

A well made tractor lasts for decades. A poorly made one will spend half its life in the shop.

You should get between 4-5000 hours with routine maintenance before the Yanmar needs an overhaul.
