I have a 2310D and today I was looking for the glow plug and I either blind or it don't have one. Anybody know and where is it? Also how does it work?

You either have this Yanmar Tractor Parts: GLOW PLUG (THERMO-START PLUG) or this Yanmar Tractor Parts: ThermoStart (GLOW PLUG) ^ One of them should be on the intake manifold with a wire going to it. If you have the thermostart your key should turn to the left to activate it. It heats up and opens up allowing diesel to enter and ignite. Should be a little bottle with a small fuel line going to it. Should be held open for around 10+ seconds. If you have the single glow plug I really don't know if the key actuates it or not. I would guess it does but don't know that. I am attaching a picture of a thermostart and bottle.

Well I found out today that the key does turn backwards. It was stiff at first and when it did it lite up the indicator on thee dash showing it working. The attached is what I believe to be the igniter location w/igniter plugging into the intake. Look before and didn't see it. Anyway, mystery solved. How can I tell if it works okay? Thanks.

I have looked at your picture until I got dizzy  and can't for the life of me figure out what I am looking at. If you have a regular thermostart heater like this Yanmar Tractor Parts: GLOW PLUG (THERMO-START PLUG) you can turn your key to the left and hold it for about 10+ seconds, then feel the intake manifold at the thermostart heater. It should be warm. Naturally, this would be with a cold engine. Does your thermostart or glow plug have a little fuel line going to it?

What winston is referring to on the fuel line is its got a small reservoir tee'd in the return hose of the injectors in route to the top of the fuel tank and this is what feeds fuel to the TS. He gave an accurate location in his pic if you look carefully its between the hose on the left and the injector. hth

Here is a pic of how the TS looks when it lights off its an experiment I did on mine.

Remove that big hose in the center of your photo so you can look into the manifold and see the tip of the Thermostart module. (It's a little bigger than a spark plug, and its tip is nearly identical to the hot end of the cigarette lighter in your car). Turn the key backward. After a few seconds you should see the the Thermostart module heat up, then a flame.

Heres a description with photos on Hoye's site.

Same problem I had when I first looked at it. I couldn't get a real good pic of it. But I think I found it. Now I just need to see if it works. I just found out that the key turns backward, to make it work. It is stiff, so I need to lube it. It did turn the idiot light on, but that's all I can say about at this point.
