Some of them have hour meters that read into the 1000s place, but mine doesn't. It read 140 hours when I bought it. I asked the dealer if he knew what it actually was and he said we think it is 1140, which is what I figured. It could be 2140. If it was maintained and is running well, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Also, my hour meter doesn't operate in "real time". If it is just idling it turns much slower than your watch would. You need to hit a certain RPM level for it to turn over the same as your watch. Most of the experienced people on this forum feel a Yanmar will go 4000-5000 hours without needing an overhaul. So, I figure even if I average 2 hours a week (100 hours a year), it will go another 30 or 40 years before needing one. And by then I will either be too old to be messing with tractors or dead! So hopefully it will turn out to be a good investment.
