Rhett's advice to a recent query about leakdown was to put in place a filter to prevent seal/wiper contamination and damage.

I like this idea, and I was envious of our US cousins with some models that have this feature OEM.

Any of you put any form of (additional) filtering on yer Yannies?

I'd love to do it, but space is not exactly available where I'd like to have it, and I don't want to run fragile rubber tubing down low where it would be easy to add, but would present a vulnerability- not to mention that nice fat filter waiting for a sharp stick...

I have supplied customers with an external filter in cases where the original pickup screen is no longer available or costly. On some brands the screen is over twice the cost of the filter assembly.

hi "E_Sanborn",

I've have not yet installed a hydraulic filter on my YM1600, the old "No Cash at Hand" is the cause of many projects sitting idle here. I do plan on completing the project when possible. "lens12" does have me doing more research trying to find the best cost effective approach.

So far a basic Spin-On Filter has a flow rate around 12 GPM with 35 Micron cellulose media. Stainless Steel media filters are available but the cost ???, more than likely out of my budget when I get one.

An option to reduce flow restriction using Spin-On filters would be to use a "Dual Filter Mount". Also finding a higher volume filter would decrease flow restriction, like one used on a "Big Rig".

Locating an installation mount point will be tractor specific, and determined by what accessories are installed. A custom bracket will need to be fabricated to meet specific needs. As you do have a FEL, I will suggest you not use it as a filter mount point in case it is decided to remove the FEL for any reason .

I will later tonight post a descriptive photo of where and how I do plan to mount a filter system to my YM1600.

Edit: looking at https://www.allpartsstore.com/Searc...ies&SelcModel=&SelcSectn=HYD&SelcSubsc=HYDR08 "lens12" has some single filter units available at a reasonable price. Some specs are:
A-SF210 - micron 10 - GPM rate 60
A-SF125 - micron 25 - GPM rate 20

hi "E_Sanborn",

attached descriptive photo shows where I plan to mount/install a Hydraulic/Transmission Oil Filter. a crude photo, but I hope it is clear in expressing the idea.

I think I will go with the "A-SF210 - micron 10 - GPM rate 60", with its high flow rate, and excellent filtering properties. and I do not even have a FEL :D

Rhett, you've clearly been thinking this through for some time, and your plan looks like it'll work - Is your steering box backlash adjuster just behind the filter mount and will it be accessible after the fabbed mounting late is in place?

I've got to do more work to figure this out; thanks for sharing your information on this, it going to help and I think it's a worthwhile modification.

.... and I do not even have a FEL :D Rhett

As an interesting note, my 3-pt will stay up indefinitely at the precise height it is left in... I measured it once and left it for days, and it had moved 1/8". My FEL cylinders used to be similarly tight, but the lift cylinders recently developed a slow leak down..
