Yanmar Hydralics Problem

I attached my Brushog today, rasied it with the hydraulics just enough to get it off the ground. The hog went all the way up and now it will not go down. The levers do not do a thing. Had to store it that way, put logs on end to support the hog.

Looked like there were some fluid on the hydaulics dipstick but did not appear to be much when I looked down the resevoir. Could it be that it is just low on fluid and not working so it stuck in the up position?

Used it last summer with no problems. This was the first time I was going to use it this season. Any input would be appreciated.

I don't know what model you have, but I think they all have a drop rate lever under the seat and a servicing valve down by the floor to hold the 3ph in the raised position for servicing. Have either been closed?

My inital thought was the valve under the seat, I turned it in both directions, it did not do a thing.

By the way, the model I have is a YM1702. I am baffled by this one.

If the 1702 is like the 1700 there is also a lever under the seat which controls the rate of drop for the 3 pt hitch. I may be all the way to the slow postion and could cause that as well. I accidentally did that to mine when I first got it.

Hey, Dude, I had same type problem. Take a look at my post history on 11/13/04 GrenAkrsFrmr. Mine was with a 1401D but i've been told most all hydro. systems are basicly the same, but word of warning, if there is a limit adjustment attached to your raise/lower control handle- don't mess with it.. I did==BIG mistake!!! When I finally had to take mine apart, the piston had been pushed all the way out of the bottom on internal cylender.
