Are the hydraulics on these tractors live, or will the hydraulics not operate when the clutch is depressed? I am looking to buy a 2210D and this is one question that completely slipped my mind.

The hydraulic pump runs off the engine, so the hydraulics operate anytime the engine is running.

Are you talking about live pto? I have never heard the term live hydraulics. Mabe some else has .I don't think the 2210 has live pto.

Live hydraulics has been on tractors for many years. However, some of the first power lift tractors did not have live hydraulics since the pump ran from the transmission. The Ford 8N, 2N come to mind. The pto had to be engaged before the lift would work. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yep.. fergusons were like that as well. For the fords, it wasn't until the golden jubilee ( 53/54 models ) that an engine driven 'live' hyds' pump was standard.. etc.

The hydraulics operate when the engine runs. Transmission/clutch has no bearing on this. Hydraulic pump runs directly off the engine. PTO in neutral or engaged, trans in neutral or engaged, hydraulics still runs if the engine is running.

Thanks for answering my question. I was refering to the hydraulics being similar to the 8n. We have a '48 8N that does not have "live" hydraulics and a '54 Ford 600 that does.

I didnot like that about the to-20 that I had.PTO had to be in gear for hyd. to work.Thats why someone else owns it now.I never new they called that live hydraulics .I guess that was the best they had at the time.

Sorry to get off subject here , but rather then starting a new thread , I have a simple question about the hydraulics on a YM155D. I have a loader on mine and it is squealing with out any load in the bucket . I think the control valve may be going bad and would like to know what the GPM flow from the Yanmar hydraulic pump is so if I need to get a replacement valve , I will know what the capacity I will need for the valve. It's just a simple 2 spool valve with float . The manufacturer of the loader wants over $400 for a new valve but I have located one at Northern Hydraulics for under $200 .

I would do some troubleshooting before throwing big ticket parts at it. Could the 3ph servicing valve down by your feet, or the 3ph drop speed lever under the seat have gotten accidentally closed, or how long since the hydraulic pickup screen has been cleaned? Any of these would restrict fluid flow and cause the pump to squeal.
