I never did this as a full time business, just as a part time hobby. After I bought a few containers, Southland Equipment started selling them and I became friends with the owner, answering his customers questions and helping him with crossover models and so on. Out of appreciation he started selling me tractors at a small fraction over cost. I could buy as many of as few as I wanted to and he let me pick them out before he ordered them. I didn't have any of the hassles of importation. Of course he decided in the end to quit selling them and I had to do without. I've been waiting for years for some of these tractors to go on sale but everybody is hanging on to them. I'm just researching the costs right now to see if it's worth my time. I've been buying a couple of tractors now and them and repairing them and putting them up for sale but when you buy retail and sell for retail, It doesn't even pay for my time, just the fun factor.
