Just started looking at Yanmar tractors since I got a bigger yard and a field to mow. Anyone recomend a good dealer in NC. The JD GT 275 is to small and I would like something to do a little of everything and 4x4. I' ve got about 2 acres of yard to mow and 2 more acres of field that need to be mowed. Thanks

Welcome to the board. Lots of knowledge people here, who are willing to help. Have you tried looking under the dealers on the main page. At the top of the page. Might give you some leads.

I know it is a hard thing to do, but I would have no qualms buying sight unseen from several of the dealers on this forum. These guys have earned good reputations by treating their customers right. I would read all the posts to get an idea of what models will suit my purposes, then contact a dealer or two within a few hundred miles.

As far as I can tell there are no dealers specializing in Yanmar non-recon greys in Western VA or NC. The dealer that you visited seems to now be big into New Hollands. Every once and a while I will pick up the area heavy equipment journal and see numerious recons for sale from small dealers. If you were to go that route then you should get a written support for at least 90 days on parts and LABOR. Unfortunately most of these (small) dealers can't do or will not do proper support for greys in general. The bigger dealers in your area should be able to give you a good warranty on any grey trade ins though. If not, walk. You could go the route already mentioned and pick up a good non-refurb from one the dealers on this Forum. The down side is that they are not local to fix any problems, but hey, if they are as good as everyone says then what they will sell you keep going strong well beyond 90 days and years to come as Yans are very good tractors. For the price you can't beat them for working small tracts and parts are available through the net.

Cane Creek Compacts in Asheveille sells Yanmar and Mitsubishi. The owners are as good as gold but they sell mostly VN rebuilds. They possibly might get you a used tractor as they get some tractors from Ferguson's on occasion.
