Hi folks, looking for an informed opinion from some of you mechanics out there. I have a JD 332 (garden tractor) with a Yanmar 3 cylinder 16hp diesel. After working it pretty hard mowing in some heavy stuff, I'm getting quite a bit of blow-by (through the breather tube coming from the valve cover). I've talked to a couple local mechanics, and their concensus is that I have a stuck compression ring. The tractor uses no oil at all, and runs great. According to the dealer I bought it from, the top end of the engine was done before I bought it (valves adjusted, new injectors, etc). Before I go through a tear down, I'd like some of your opinions. Also, if I do tear it down, how important is it to remove the crank and check/replace the crank bearings. I am told that I can get my pistons out without removing the engine from the tractor.
