Yanmar on their own ?? Doesn't seem to be working

I certainly agree that their dealer network is thin and unimpressive.
That needs to change. Currently I doubt I would buy another Yanmar unless that changes.

After reading all these posts, I wonder if I should have bought another brand.

OK folks....this has been bugging me. These 2 responses are a result of 1 individual being pisssed off, and flaming a company in the heat of the moment. Understanding his situation, 2 mechanical issues, lack/loss of dealer support, and perhaps an inexperienced parts clerk.....and sure, perhaps Yanmar has work to do to get up to speed.....but why torch the company in multiple threads, which are there forever, and create doubt as to the quality and longevity of the 100 year old company, from future prospective buyers?

Hel, I don't even like the title of this thread.....:laughing:

Sorry for venting guys, and apologies to (removed). I've seen how negativity sticks with a brand ala Cub Cadet....

Actually my response is based on my experience with 3 dealers within 1 hour, 2 of which dumped Yanmar after the split, and the remaining (where I purchased my tractor) treating me like dirt because they don't want to sell Yanmars anymore, and are selling Mahindra's now. They would prefer I and the other Yanmar owners would disappear. They have a problem. Not the tractors but the dealers. For all I know CC is pressuring dealers to drop them IDK. What I do know is I have poor dealer support, which wasn't the case when I purchased the tractor. Fortunately it's been a reliable machine. It's too bad but we all know that when shopping for a tractor the #1 thing to look for is dealer support.

The last thing I look for is dealer support. I look for a quality tractor, at the best price. If I have to drive 200 miles to get it, so be it. I do my own routine maintenance. I order any parts from a dealer friend in MI. Only been to the dealer once in a decade....and it was an unpleasant experience. Don't really care about dealer support, at least for me. I know everyone is different.

Thanks for the positive remarks Scout! I really do like my tractor. I guess I was all caught up in the moment with all the negative posts. I also had a few issues at first with an oil leak from the mid pto seal that was fixed twice in 2 weeks and a few pins the came out. The dealer took care of this with no problem. As far as the CC/Yanmar thing I don't really care. It must not have worked or they would still be together. Just let it go!
One thing I have found since purchasing this tractor is that there is a lot of competition. I looked at JD, Kubota, Massey Ferguson and Yanmar. At least to me, they all were pretty much the same. They may have different features but basically the same. The Yanmar just seemed to catch my eye.
I think dealer support is very important. I personally am not a mechanic and don't really have the patience to be one. I rely on the dealer for service and support. I am fortunate that they are just a few miles away.
I am very excited about my new Yanmar 221 and looking forward to many years of using it to maintain my property.

I feel the exact same way as you

My Brother has a sc2400 and I laughed at it when he brought it home...... He dropped it off at my home to experience what this 'little' tractor would do. Impressed was an understatement, I had no idea that something so small could do so much!! I didn't purchase one myself because I wanted a shuttle shift VS the hydro that he had. Nevertheless I went small/compact as I could with a shuttle shift because I wanted the maneuverability and versatility that his possessed. Mahindra got my business based on the fact they had a small shuttle - Max 28. If yanmar had a small shuttle I would have been sold with them. I guess that Everyone wants an automatic now not just in the tractor world but the automotive as well.
