Does anyone have a source where u can buy the safety switch that mounts under the hydrostatic pedal of my 2016 yanmar 424 I have to jiggle the pedal every time I start it. I ordered one through my local dealer and been jerked around for a month now and still itç—´ not here .thanks
Is that switch special in some way? Does it have a unique shape or some sort of other special property? Do you want that particular Yanmar safety switch, or are you willing to use a more universal switch and fabricate a mounting?
If your choice is to prefer a Yanmar part - and the tractor is currently or recently manufactured then I assume that your dealer can have it for you in a few days. Although if the dealer is a problem I'm not sure what this vintage Yanmar group can do to help. Does anyone have any suggestions on that?
One of the reasons this vintage Yanmar group prefers the older Yanmars is that those older models tended to be repairable using standard industrial parts rather than specific dealership parts.
If you would prefer to fabricate the safety switch yourself, you can probably come up with one that works as well or better than the original.
There are industrial suppliers who carry a huge line of components. Several are online and will sell individual components.
Prices and all the specifications you need to know about the switch are also right there online.
My favorite source for universal mount industrial parts is McMaster-Carr. Here is a link to their switch selection page:
McMaster-Carr.
For example, I just bought am industrial push-button switch from McMaster to replace a broken push-button switch that works a hydraulic relay on my Kubota. My tractor dealer's price for that switchwas several hundred dollars. But all that was really needed was a simple push button SPST switch to fit in a round hole in the dash. Very much like a safety switch, in fact. It turns out that when I looked up that type of switch at McMaster online I found that those switches are sold by the diameter of hole it fits in, whether or not it is illuminated when actuated (it was), and the power it is capable of handling.
McMaster sells an standard industrial switch with those qualities that turns out to be close enough to a Kubota part to be interchangeable. Cost is ten dollars for the industrial switch. The industrial part was in stock with 3 day delivery and is far superior in quality.
However, it wasn't a direct exchange. I did have to salvage the electrical leads off of the old switch and solder them onto the new one.
Good luck with it,
